Terms of service
1. Who these terms are with
"We", "us" and "ReqForge" mean Adam Wheater trading as ReqForge, a sole trader established in the United Kingdom at 73 Hunderton Road, Hereford HR2 7AP, United Kingdom. "You" means the organisation buying or trialling seats. "Software" means the ReqForge desktop application and its command-line tool. "Service" means the licence service that issues and checks seat licences, and the administration console.
A "Seat" is a right for one named individual to use the Software. A "User" is the individual holding a Seat. An "Administrator" is a User you nominate to buy Seats and hand them out.
2. The licence
While your subscription is current and paid, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Software for your internal business purposes, limited to the number of Seats you have bought.
You may:
- install and run the Software on machines your Users control;
- reassign a Seat from one person to another when someone changes role or leaves;
- use the command-line tool on your own build agents under a Seat you hold.
You may not:
- remove, disable, bypass or interfere with the licensing in the Software, or use it without a valid Seat;
- share one Seat between several people, or run one Seat on several machines at once;
- copy, distribute, sublicense, rent, sell or publish the Software, or make it available to anyone outside your organisation;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the extent that the law expressly permits despite this restriction — in the United Kingdom that includes the limited rights under sections 50B and 50BA of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988;
- use the Software to build a competing product.
The Software is licensed, not sold. We keep all intellectual property in it. Nothing here transfers ownership of anything.
Earlier versions of ReqForge were published under the MIT licence. That licence continues to apply to those versions and we do not claim otherwise; these terms apply to the versions published under them, which are the ones your seats are for.
3. Seats, and how they are counted
You buy a number of Seats. Your Administrator assigns each Seat to one person by email address. A Seat may be released and reassigned to somebody else at any time — when somebody leaves, when a project moves — and there is no charge for reassigning.
Each Seat activates on one machine at a time. A User moving to a new machine deactivates the old one first, or the Administrator releases it in the console. Activating repeatedly on many machines to work around the limit is a breach of these terms.
Add Seats at any time; Stripe charges the pro-rated remainder of your year. Remove Seats and the reduction takes effect at your next renewal.
4. Trials
We may offer a trial, currently fourteen days and five Seats. A trial needs no card and turns into nothing: when it ends, the Software stops working unless you buy Seats. Trials are for evaluating ReqForge, one per organisation, and we may end one early if it is being used to run production work rather than to evaluate.
5. Payment
Seats cost £96 each per year unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Payment is annually in advance, by card through Stripe, or by bank transfer against an invoice where we have agreed that.
Prices are in pounds sterling and exclude any tax that may apply where you are. No VAT is charged: we are not VAT registered. Where you are required to withhold tax, the amount payable is grossed up so that we receive what was quoted.
Subscriptions renew automatically for a further year unless cancelled before the renewal date. We will email the Administrator before a renewal. If a payment fails, the Software keeps working for about a fortnight while the card is retried, and then stops.
We may change prices for a renewal term by giving you at least 30 days' notice before the renewal date. The price you have already paid for a term does not change.

6. Your data
Your collections, environments, requests, responses, scripts and credentials stay on the machines you run ReqForge on. They are not uploaded to us and we cannot see them.
The Service holds what it needs to run licensing: your organisation name, the names and email addresses of Administrators and Users, seat assignments, a one-way hash identifying each activated machine, a label for that machine, the application version, IP addresses and timestamps. The privacy policy sets out how that is handled and for how long.
If your subscription ends, the Software reverts to read-only: you can still open, edit and export everything you have made, but not send requests. We do not delete, lock or hold your files.
7. Acceptable use
ReqForge sends HTTP requests, can generate load, and can run security scans. Those are the parts that get people into trouble, so:
- only test systems you own or have written permission to test — load testing and security scanning without authorisation may be a criminal offence, including under the Computer Misuse Act 1990;
- do not use ReqForge to attack, overwhelm, or gain unauthorised access to anything, or to break any law where you or your target are;
- do not use it to send unlawful, infringing or malicious content.
You are responsible for what your Users do with it. We may suspend an organisation that is clearly breaching this section, and will tell the Administrator why.
8. Support and availability
Support is by email, in UK working hours, at the addresses on the contact page. We aim to answer within one working day. We do not offer a contractual service level unless we have agreed one with you in writing.
The Service needs to be reachable roughly once a day for licences to refresh. It is built so that an outage on our side does not stop your work: a licence keeps working for its offline allowance — fourteen days as standard — without reaching us at all.
9. What we promise, and what we do not
We promise that the Software will work substantially as the documentation describes, and that we have the right to license it to you. If it does not, tell us and we will fix it or refund you.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the Software and Service are provided as they are, without other warranties. In particular:
- the security scanning is a scanner. A clean scan is not a statement that your API is secure, and we do not warrant that it finds everything or that everything it finds is real;
- load testing generates load. What that does to your systems, your bills and your users is your responsibility;
- we do not warrant that the Software is free of every defect.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, neither party is liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings, loss or corruption of data, or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
This section reflects that ReqForge is a low-cost tool. If your use needs a larger cap, talk to us and we will price it.
11. Ending it
You may cancel at any time; your Seats run to the end of the term you have paid for. We may end this agreement if you materially breach it — including by bypassing the licensing or by breaching section 7 — and do not fix the breach within 14 days of being told about it, or immediately where the breach cannot be fixed.
When the agreement ends, the licence in section 2 ends with it, the Software reverts to read-only, and you must stop using it for anything beyond reading and exporting your own work. Sections 6, 9, 10 and 13 survive.
12. Changes
We may change these terms for future subscription terms, and will email the Administrator at least 30 days before a change takes effect. The terms you agreed to at the start of your current term keep applying until it ends. If a change is unacceptable, cancel before the renewal and the change never applies to you.
13. General
These terms, the privacy policy and the refund policy are the whole agreement between us about ReqForge, and replace anything said beforehand. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest stands.
Neither of us may transfer this agreement without the other's consent, except that we may transfer it to a company we form to continue this business, on written notice to you.
Nobody other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are buying as a consumer rather than for a business, this does not take away rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
